Zocalo Description:
East Fourth Street---once an unnoticed alley filled with wig shops and a defunct Woolworth's---has evolved into an entertainment destination complete with heated sidewalks and high-end lofts perched far above the street. Zocalo features two levels of dining and drinking space bedecked in brightly colored serapes and other trappings of Mexicana. Guacamole is made tableside, with your choice of add-ins (jalapeños, cilantro, lime juice and the like). Margaritas are sized for slow sipping. At night, the eatery morphs from mild-mannered restaurant to high-octane nightlife destination; it might not be suited to some, but it certainly draws the crowds.
