The Greenhouse Tavern Description:
After years of planning, commitment and determination, The Greenhouse Tavern on East Fourth Street opened as Ohio's first certified green restaurant. With chef Jonathon Sawyer at its helm, it boasts myriad earth-friendly features, most important among them a focus on farm-to-table fare. Sawyer's food, regardless of its origin, is approachable and unfussy. The menu, printed on 100 percent, post-consumer recycled fiber, is sectioned into firsts (small tastes), seconds (larger appetizers), thirds (full dinners) and halfs (accompaniments to share). For firsts, try the "Bread & Butter"---grilled bread, goat's milk butter and sea salt. Under seconds, the hand-ground beef tartare is not to be missed. We also suggest the steak frites or the vegetarian dish of roasted red kuri squash, risotto, sage and spiced apples. Desserts may include triple chocolate cake. Additionally, a nightly happy hour menu is offered.
