Nirvana Description:
Uptown is fortunate to have at least one refuge for saag paneer and tandoori chicken, and it found a good home along a stretch of Magazine Street that also hosts one of the city's best oyster bars, Casamento's, as well as the notable La Petite Grocery. Nirvana's dining room is sophisticated but warm, awash in royal blue and gold, with cushioned chairs, elephant friezes and servers dressed as if for a formal event. The food is always fresh and liberally seasoned, even when it comes off the daily lunch buffet, and even considering Nirvana's consistently weak portion-to-price ratio. Sunday lunch is especially happening out on the sidewalk tables, where carefree diners take in the newspaper with their dal.
