Villa Creek is located in the heart of downtown Paso Robles next to the central park. Villa Creek's focus is California cuisine with local, sustainable and organic cuisine. Cost is moderate to expensive.
Perched right on the square in downtown Paso Robles, Villa Creek is as popular a watering hole as a restaurant, with a full bar and notable wines-by-the-glass, including owner Chris Cherry's Villa Creek Cellars Rhônes. In the kitchen, chef Tom Fundaro is an avid proponent of local and sustainable producers, striving to source as much as possible within 100 miles of the restaurant. The "early California" menu changes seasonally, but plan on enjoying dishes such as the silky, smoky sweet potato soup, the Windrose Farm heirloom tomato gazpacho, the Blue Moon Ale and apricot-glazed Niman Ranch pork belly or the fork-tender Hearst Ranch braised brisket. The staff is always happy to accommodate vegetarian requests. We also recommend the "Gambas," shrimp swimming in garlic and chile oil and served with tortillas or bread, which is also featured on the finger-friendly bar menu. Sit in the bustling bar overlooking the square, on the pleasant outdoor patio in back, or in the high-ceilinged, Mission-style dining room.
