Bistro Laurent Description:
Bistro Laurent is a mid sized French Bistro in the heart of downtown Paso Robles. Open 7 days for lunch and dinner. Bistro Laurent is moderate to expensive. A tasting menu is also available, with or without paired wines. Most of the seating is indoors but there is a small patio dining section as well.
French-born chef Laurent Grangien set a new standard for fine dining in Paso Robles when he opened this bistro in the mid-1990s. The dining room endures as a favorite of Paso vintners, who celebrate special occasions here and always recommend it to tasting room guests. Sophisticated diners traveling through the local wine country head here for epicurean treats like sweetbreads, lobster and freshly made pasta---all at prices affordable for most budgets. Among our favorites are the salmon tartare with baby greens tossed with truffle oil; crispy crab risotto with sautéed shrimp and tomato coulis; and duck breast with a ragoût of mushrooms and organic potatoes in red wine. The "home-style" twilight dinner and Laurent's tasting menu are excellent values. The ambience is warm and friendly, most patrons know each other and the efficient staff keeps guests well satisfied no matter how busy the dining room may be. The well-chosen wine list provides an array of great red and white wines from France mixed with some of the best Paso Robles brands.
