Pierpont Inn & Racquet Club Description:
Its hilltop perch affords panoramic views of the ocean. The Arts & Crafts architecture transports you to another time. Even though Ventura's culinary scene is improving drastically year by year, Austen's remains a leader with its fine American cuisine. The organic, grain-fed beef comes from Harris Ranch. Seafood is fresh and as local as possible. Steamer clams from the Pacific are served as an appetizer in court-bouillon with tomatoes and garlic. Jumbo scallops (also an appetizer) are set in a sweet-corn broth while Pacific crab cakes come with a five-herb pistou. Thursday through Sunday nights, prime rib is served in ten-ounce and 12-ounce portions. Miso-glazed salmon and halibut in a mustard crust are available nightly as dinner entrées. So is a grilled New York steak and Châteaubriand for two with garlic mashed potatoes. Every Sunday, a Champagne brunch is laid out. On occasion, winemaker dinners are held in the Vicker's Estate on the hotel property.
