Cafe Zack Description:
Favored dinner dishes at this longstanding Ventura restaurant include the lobster appetizer in a truffle and cream sauce served over corn husks as well as the seared ahi salad. The signature dinner entrée is braised wild boar shank, but the ultra-tender filet mignon (six- or eight-ounce) has many followers. Try the apple dumpling with lots of gooey caramel or Zack's pie (chocolate ganache on a pecan crust topped with whipped cream) for dessert. At lunch, there's a club salad with chicken, avocado, bacon and tomato, plus a tostada salad served in a tortilla shell. An executive burger is made with Kobe beef, grilled onions and your choice of cheese. A fish-of-the-day and ravioli-of-the-day keep things interesting for repeat customers. Service from the staff and owners is always friendly, which helps in such a tight space. Enjoy the enclosed patio in the summer months.
