Cyclops Description:
Located in an old brick building downstairs from Belltown's über hip Ace Hotel, Cyclops is an artsy café and lounge serving surprisingly good food. Tile floors ensure the proper din to accompany the youthful band of late-night revelers who regularly cram the brick-walled Panther Room and the very retro, vinyl-and-laminate-enhanced dining room. Among the campy decorations are renderings of Malcolm X and Elvis, plus a collection of kitchen molds that once hung prominently on outer walls of the original restaurant. When ready to eat, appetizer-grazing is easy with starters such as a roasted chicken quesadilla, hummus plate, or polenta arrabbiata. Daily entrées range from a bourbon molasses-soaked pulled pork sandwich on toasted brioche to a grilled chicken baguette with Fontina, cilantro pesto and ancho-lime aïoli. Be sure to check the daily fresh sheet for cornmeal-crusted chicken, spicy chipotle-glazed pork chops and the daily fish special. Craving weekend brunch? Cyclops provides there too, with first-rate omelets and home fries.
