Osaka Japanese Steak & Sushi Description:
Teppanyaki is all about the show. That and impeccably fresh ingredients. Fortunately, then, said show, with all the usual machine-gun slicing and dicing and launching of lemon halves into the air, is just corny enough, the basic product impressive. And the execution? Actually pretty good. The first course brings a vegetable arsenal into play, and despite the stacking of onion rings into a volcano complete with smoke and sparks, there's only over-acting, not over-cooking. Sea scallops were fine, too, as was quickly grilled squid. A filet mignon, also nicely executed, came last, and though flavors were beginning to seem more than a little similar by this point, it's hard to complain too vociferously. Except about an order of unexceptional sushi, or maybe the uneventful fried ice cream. The show's the thing.
