Little Rhein Steakhouse Description:
A friendly gathering place with rustic charm, and high quality steaks. Located on the RiverWalk in what is believed to be San Antonio's first 2 story building. Great wine cellar. Fine dining experience.
For over 40 years, The Little Rhein, a River Walk mainstay, has been serving Prime steaks in an ultra-atmospheric historic house in the shadow of the hulking Hilton Hotel. And though no longer the only serious steakhouse game in town, it has made only minimal changes to the immutable menu. Snails, lump crab-stuffed avocado and house-smoked salmon remain mainstays of the appetizer section. And perhaps this is precisely the point: the steaks, Prime rib-eye and bone-in New York strip among them, are still topnotch; the service is professional; and the wine list, shared with The Fig Tree next door, can be counted on for topnotch reds to bolster carnivorous cravings. (Oven-roasted lobster tail and Scottish salmon are available for the faint of flesh.) Be sure you request the good glassware for your cellar-worthy wines of whatever color, however. And don't fail to indulge further in the fresh fruit cobblers or the quintessential pecan pie. Y'all are in Texas, after all.
