Typical of its arty Faubourg Marigny neighborhood, Sukho Thai's brightly painted walls serve as a gallery of rotating art exhibitions. But stay focused on the menu, as you're in for what amounts to a one-room eating tour of Thailand. Saucy egg noodles with chicken broth, fish balls and bean sprouts taste like a quick dinner from a Bangkok street vendor, while green papaya salads are wet with fish sauce and sweetened with palm sugar, just like those found in northern Thailand. Curries are vibrant, as if the cooks make them to order with a mortar and pestle, and the whole-fish dishes are notable---steamed flounder emerges perfumed with lemon grass and kaffir lime leaf. Drinkers must BYOB, though the honey-ginger tea is such a good companion for these dishes, it's bound to keep you from drinking anything else. In fact, the lengthy tea menu is well worth studying and sampling.
