Bargeboard walls and white lace curtains lend a rustic air to this Faubourg Marigny joint, though the vibe turns more rollicking as the hours click past and more hungry patrons turn up after a night on the town. Hamburgers, fried seafood and red beans are all done competently, though the main draw seems to be breakfast served any time. The poached-egg concoctions and omelets are simple and more than satisfactory. Typical options are a scramble of shrimp, eggs and scallions escorted by home-style fries, and a crisp, thick waffle crowned with whipped cream and a syrupy stew of peaches. Usually found on the brunch board are such dishes as poached eggs Sardou (atop creamed spinach, a fresh artichoke bottom and with a passable hollandaise), and silver-dollar pancakes that are much bigger than you'd expect, brought out with sausage patties, good scrambled eggs and a down-home cane syrup. Eggs Benedict Péniche means that a slice of ripe tomato has joined the Canadian bacon and hollandaise on the split English muffin.
