Red Fish Grill's several dining spaces spill over with whimsy and energy, and that concept follows through to the kitchen at this lively Bourbon Street eatery concepted by restaurateur Ralph Brennan. The menu specializes in clever riffs on local favorites, usually to good effect. Seasonal entrées keep the menu fresh and inviting. In autumn, look for hickory-grilled fish, while summer brings lighter lump crab meat specialties. The barbecued-oyster po' boy adds a tasty new variation on the city's favorite sandwich, while a blackened redfish burger is served with sweet potato chips. Those who are not fin fanciers have a trio of land-line choices from which to select an interesting meal, especially the slow-roasted rosemary and garlic chicken. The double chocolate-praline bread pudding and a cherry pecan ice cream profiterole sundae should assuage any sweet lover's appetite for over-the-top desserts. A long, cool oyster bar provides a good perch for knocking back a dozen cold bivalves.
