Mr John's Steak House Description:
The casual mood that floats over Mr. John's tiled dining room is brighter, less brooding, than the stereotypical American steakhouse. Still, there's a certain romance in the view, which overlooks the streetcars rattling up and down St. Charles Avenue. Mr. John's designation as a steakhouse, however, doesn't tell the entire story. Diners may indeed choose from several cuts of USDA Prime corn-fed beef, all of which come sizzling in butter in the style made famous at the original Ruth's Chris Steak House. The wine list includes a collection of big, beefy reds (the best come from Italy and California). Venice-born chef Christian Rossit has remade the menu with many Italian specialties.
