La Crêpe Nanou Description:
Though this picturesque little corner bistro began its life as a humble crêpe shop, its selection of savory and dessert crêpes today makes up only part of the menu. As the operation added rooms and ratcheted up its level of sophistication, the menu expanded to a roster of dishes such as properly rustic pâté maison, the more-than-acceptable mussels marinière (as availability permits), tender lamb chops, a classic preparation of veal sweetbreads with lemon butter and capers, steak frites with the right bite and flavor, and fish dishes with straightforward béarnaise sauce. A devoted cadre of regulars and a no-reservations policy means most diners who arrive will need to cool their heels at the small, tight bar or outside on the sidewalk with a glass of wine before a table opens up. Once inside, diners can relax amid a hodgepodge of greenery, whimsical paintings and quirky artifacts, in either the main room in front or the long, glassy lean-to beyond it. Service moves along at a clip, and the wine list is serviceable.
