Yen Sushi & Sake Bar Description:
It's becoming increasingly difficult to stand out among the dozens of sushi bars along this stretch of Ventura Boulevard. But Yen, located in the same complex as the The Bistro Garden, offers sleek contemporary lines, rustic dark wood tables, a six-seat sushi bar and dim, flattering lighting. The sushi is of very good quality, although the selection is not particularly wide and you won't find too many exotic species. Instead, the emphasis here is clearly on the large number of creative, sometimes whimsical rolls, which tends to suit the clientele. Entrées such charbroiled lamb chops, salmon teriyaki and Chilean sea bass in miso sauce provide additional options for those of us seeking less whimsy and more substance.
