Teru Sushi Description:
Some say this is where the sushi craze in So Cal all started, and they may not be far from the truth. Despite the increased local competition, the crowds here haven't abated and the place remains great fun. On weekends, plan to wait for dishes like Tiger's Eye (salmon-stuffed squid), sea flowers (red snapper shaped into flower petals) and combination rolls seemingly invented to appeal to saké-drenched yuppies. Depending on what the sushi chefs find at the market, sushi options might include jumbo shrimp, albacore or kanpachi. Appetizers are highlighted by pan-fried crab cakes with spicy citrus dressing or lobster tail egg rolls. Be sure to check on Teru Sushi's website before you visit. There are secret web specials like Inside Out California Roll with eel sauce or tuna sushi with shiso leaf. A feast-worthy dish is Funemori---literally, a boat full of salmon, chicken, New York steak, crab, jumbo shrimp, green lip mussels, mixed salad and fresh fruit. To drink, there are imported sakés and Japanese beers like Kirin and Sapporo. If you're still hungry, skip the tame desserts and order more fish.
