Canal Club Description:
Not satisfied with just one hip Venice eatery and nightspot, noted restaurateur James Evans created another right across from his James Beach. He enlivened this establishment with colorful artwork from Venice artist Billy Al Bengston and Evans' business partner, Daniel Samakow. The kitchen celebrates an eclectic mix of tastes. The California and Pacific Rim influences are evident, beginning with starters like Thai steak salad or chicken satay and a Brie and grape quesadilla. Entrées include carne asada, a hefty Angus beef burger and seared ahi burger. However, a wide selection of sushi, sashimi and rolls engages many of the regulars frequenting this beachy space that fuses vintage and contemporary sensibilities. A more than respectable wine list is offered, or one may opt for specialty Polynesian-style cocktails like the Venice Volcano.
