Even if Jody Maroni's little stand wasn't located right on zany Venice Beach, it would be worth driving to---from any part of town. There are usually about a dozen varieties of dogs available, from old favorites (bratwurst, Italian and andouille sausages) to his own fanciful inventions (e.g., chicken-tequila sausage, chicken-pomegranate, Cubana chicken). The concept has now been franchised throughout Southern California and the nation, but this original, a Venice institution since 1979, remains a unique experience.
