Arcodoro Description:
The beauty of Arcodoro can be seen in the handpainted tiles from Positano, the warm wood-burning oven, the huge murals and the Sardinian marble from the quarries where the owner's father worked. After work, the cocktail crowd convenes in the large bar, where they indulge in 14 selections of Grappa, as well as two signature drinks-the Fruitini, a vodka-infused fruit drink, and the Grapparita, Arcodoro's own version of the Italian margarita. Many of the regional dishes from Sardinia, the small, rustic island off the coast of Italy, are unavailable anywhere else in the United States. Favorites include pane carasau, music bread, so named for its paper-thin texture; sa fregula, a traditional Sardinian clam soup; Sardinian teardrop pasta with wild boar; and costata d'oro, an aged rib-eye marinated in Sardinian wine, garlic, rosemary and balsamic vinegar. The evening can be topped off with seadas al miele, an authentic puffed pastry filled with sweet cheese, lemon and mint, lightly fried and drizzled with bitter honey.
