Primo Vino Description:
Primo Vino sits at the eastern edge of busy, bustling Little Italy, through a dimly lit doorway and down a daunting flight of stairs. The large room is broken up by a U-shaped bar, and the room is trimmed with glowing wood (purportedly salvaged from the gymnasium of a large, historic Catholic high school). As the name implies, this place serves Italian wines---nearly 300 of them, in fact. The food is nothing special, mostly standard Italian fare with some surprises. Look for three pastas, brought over from Italy, on its daily menu, including one served with a cream sauce, one with a lighter vegetable and herb sauce and one draped in a seafood-based sauce. Desserts include spumoni, gelato, tiramisu and triple chocolate mousse pie---but our money is on the cannoli.
