Fire Description:
The kitchen is the focal point of the restaurant and has counter seating available. The decor combines the historic charm of the 1915 space with modern style that brings the building to life. The space contains natural colors and textures, sexy lighting and fresh flowers. Fire consists of 120 seats and a party room that seats up to 35. During the summer Fire has a sidewalk patio on Shaker Square.
A hip, urban vibe and a menu of American fare distinguish chef-owner Douglas Katz's bistro in the historic Shaker Square shopping district. Inside the modern dining room, exposed ductwork, bare wood floors, stainless steel-and-wood chairs and white paper-covered tables set the scene for the minimalist menu design that follows suit. We suggest starting with the fire-roasted banana peppers with house-made sausage or the popovers with whipped local honey butter while studying the menu. Cooked in rustic brick or tandoori ovens, the meat entrées include a huge, juicy pork chop that comes with sour cream spätzle and tangy apple butter. Those who prefer seafood can't go wrong with the lobster Thermidor served on crispy potato cakes with a crown of warm spinach. For dessert, don't miss the local apple-cranberry pandowdy. It's a one-crust wonder with cinnamon ice cream and apple caramel. The drink menu is equally interesting and carefully composed with a dedicated dessert section featuring a handful of ports and sweet ice wines. Sunday brunch is one of Cleveland's best---try the zesty lemon soufflé pancakes with tart blueberry sauce or the almond-stuffed french toast with strawberries and local maple syrup.
