Cafe Verde Description:
The dining room at Café Verde holds but a handful of linen-covered tables, with a few additional ones out on the sidewalk. With its saffron walls with artsy black-and-white photography, it looks like a tiny small town diner that has been dressed up for a special occasion. The breakfast menu offers eggs Benedict, vanilla french toast or huevos with chorizo, while hot pressed sandwiches and classic salads dominate the midday fare. For dinner, chef Carlos Castañon's lamb shank with Cabernet sauce, salmon in pasilla sauce or roasted sea bass with ginger-mango sauce are worthy culinary adventures. A wine list is available, as well as beer. Prices are pretty reasonable, and dining here makes us feel like we've been let in on a well-kept secret.
