Florentine's Downtown Grill Description:
Proprietors Joe and Robin Florentine obviously have a passion for Italian food and family-style fine dining. Sitting right at the corner of Harbor Boulevard and Commonwealth Avenue, Florentine's Downtown Grill stands out as a rather cosmopolitan two-story restaurant. The Florentines made sure to bring guests a connection to the past with their European décor: dark wood floors, original brick walls, colorful tapestries and elegant rugs. The 55-foot wood bar is spectacular, and regulars hang out here for a wine or cocktail. The menu veers from traditional Italian food to include California classics such as crab cakes, sushi, beef stroganoff, entrée salads and chicken tenders for the kids. There's also a long list of pasta dishes as well as steaks, chops and seafood. Regulars come on Friday and Saturday evenings for the thick-cut prime rib dinner, which is served with mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and horseradish sauce.
