Strip Restaurant Description:
This tri-level steak and sushi joint by Atlanta restaurateur-chef Tom Catherall manages not to be quite as noisy as some of his other establishments. The crisply fried and lightly breaded calamari are tender and tasty, a nice tangle of rings and tentacles, accompanied by a marinara sauce and drizzled with a far preferable aïoli. Sandwiches and salads vary the menu, with the lobster crab cake served slider-size and burger-style perhaps the most offbeat offering. Catherall establishments typically offer sushi, and Strip is no exception. Come for happy hour upstairs Tuesdays and Thursdays, when sushi is half price from 5 p.m.-7:15 p.m. The signature strip steak in two sizes---ten ounces and 16 ounces---is a good deal, and both offer a choice of starch. Other sides must be ordered separately but easily serve two people. Béarnaise and other sauces are properly prepared and yield enough for two. One wishes for a wine list that would exhibit at least a modicum of excitement, but at least there are plenty of reds for the steak, while adequate sparkling wine choices will rock with the sushi. Valet parking is downstairs from the restaurant.
