The James Joyce Irish Pub Description:
This is a great neighborhood pub with outdoor smoking until 9:00 pm, os it's child friendly. It has great food and friendly service.
Irish author James Joyce's distinctive image peers from behind his spectacles in a large black-and white photograph and is reproduced in etchings here and there. Dark woods and Tudor-style half-timbered architecture make this pub feel as though it's been a fixture in the neighborhood for years, though it has not. Irish breakfast on Saturday or Sunday comes with all the trimmings, including optional black-and-white puddin' and beans. Soda bread is made on the premises. We're also fond of many of the mains, including the very good fish 'n' chips, and the Joyce dishes up a good burger, as well. Especially lovely is the "black and bleu," with blue cheese and bacon. Lots of beers on draft are the draw, but there's also a respectable (for a pub) wine list. Family owned, the pub is personally overseen by Denise and Michael Gerard and her parents, Pat and Sean Myler, all from Dublin, Ireland, originally. This team also owns the lively Brewhouse Café in Little Five Points.
