A cramped room is given a different dimension with a big mirror and a bold colour scheme. Just as striking is the cooking, which offers a selection of classic and contemporary dishes. Good, seasonal ingredients shine in the likes of pastas to start and pan-fried veal chop or pan-fried swordfish with Sicilian caponata as a main. Bread is terrific and savoury nibbles are good. Desserts include a zabaglione with figs, and the pasticceria with coffee is satisfying. Service is charming and the atmosphere friendly. Set 2-course lunch £15.50.
