Cafe Provencal Description:
Provence is the inspiration for this restaurant's chef and owner, Serge Bonnet. He loves classic dishes like coquilles St. Jacques (seared scallops), escargots, sweetbreads and homemade terrines to start dinner. His ample menu changes seasonally, but you'll find pastas like fettuccine with ratatouille, fish dishes like filet of sole with squid ink sauce and meats like duck breast with fermented figs and filet mignon with three different sauces. The lunch menu is an abbreviated version of the dinner menu with the addition of entrée salads (think salad Niçoise and poached salmon salad), crêpes (stuffed with spinach, seafood or chicken) and omelets. The atmosphere veers to the casual due to the strip-mall setting, but it can be quite romantic at night. Some deals can be had if you come on the right night. On Mondays, there is no corkage and some house wines are only $10 per bottle. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, a five-course menu paired with three wines costs $45. The wine list is robust, with reasonable prices on both local and French bottles.
