Taste Description:
Located on the ground level in the Seattle Art Museum office tower, TASTE is sleek, modern and spare. During the day, museum-goers and downtown business types dine on Chardonnay chicken sandwiches, smoked salmon flatbread pizza, and croque madames. A favorite dish is the grilled hanger steak served with pommes frites and a crisp romaine and arugula salad topped with a dressing starring Rogue Creamery's blue cheese. Dinner options---available as small plates or entrées---are a mixed bag of delights. Braised pork belly, rich and unctuous, is smothered in a rosemary and caramelized onion confit, while tender loin of lamb enhanced with chorizo and an artichoke-olive relish is less inspiring. Desserts are clever, especially the deconstructed blueberry buckle: think cake, lemon cream, blueberries and meringue arranged separately on a plate. The exclusively Northwest wine list is complemented by cocktails such as the signature "Hammering Man" made with Portland's Aviation gin and fresh lime juice, and honoring SAM's hardworking outdoor sculpture. Service can be indifferent and slow, but TASTE is a convenient option if you're visiting the museum or want a bite before a downtown concert.
