Serious Pie Description:
Gourmet pizza isn't a new concept, but Serious Pie raises the bar. Cozy and dark with tall wooden tables, this is a decidedly grown-up pizzeria, offering sophisticated toppings and a good selection of wines. Starters change seasonally but might include salt cod with roasted potatoes and lovage. Then get serious with the rectangular pizzas, each hand-formed and served on black grooved trays. They arrive slightly burnt at the edges, but are otherwise spot-on for crispy, soft texture. Try any pie topped with house-cured beef pepperoni and salami, or opt for the milder fennel sausage or a blend of foraged mushrooms and truffled cheese. Our only quibble? We'd like more beer choices as an alternative to the Italian wine list. End your meal with vanilla panna cotta with rhubarb and pistachio or pear stack cake with butterscotch budino.
