Lunch Mon.-Fri., Dinner daily. One of the first of the new generation of eating establishments in Belltown remains one of the best. Uncomplicated seafood dishes are often served with light, delicious sauces and crisp vegetables.
Before Belltown became one of Seattle's trendiest restaurant-focused neighborhoods, Queen City Grill reigned supreme, holding court for more than 20 years at the corner of First and Blanchard. There's much to like about this café with its Euro-bistro attitude. At night, the spot glows with a romantic aura, and the long, narrow dining room is lined with intimate high-backed wooden booths filled with merry diners. The menu focuses on fresh, simply grilled Northwest seafood and brasserie classics presented with a regional twist. It's a good place for soup and salad, especially when the salad arrives with tender, caramelized sweetbreads. We also like the pepper-crusted tuna carpaccio in a creamy ginger and wasabi-tinged dressing. Crab cakes are a signature dish, and you can't go wrong with a simple sauté of garlicky mushrooms or lemon-splashed clams. Enhancing the experience is the deep Northwest-focused wine list. Service is professional.
