This swanky, upscale steakhouse is one of three owned by the Schwartz Brothers restaurant group. The most intimate and clubby of the trio with its piano bar and leather armchairs, the Lake Union Daniel's is always appealing. Consider starting with the oysters Rockefeller, crispy artichoke hearts dressed with garlic hollandaise or plump scallops wrapped in bacon. Huge steaks are the raison d'ĂȘtre here; our favorites are the rib-eye or the New York strip, both weighing in at a hefty 16 ounces. Prime grade and naturally aged, the steaks are seared in an 1,800-degree broiler and cooked to order. The ten-ounce filet mignon is positively demure when compared to the 22-ounce porterhouse. Even baked potatoes and side dishes are big enough to satisfy a crowd. For those who've managed to leave a smidgen of space for dessert, we recommend the Valrhona chocolate cake. Ask for a glimpse of the private wine lockers bearing the names of Seattle's rich and semi-famous. Service is professional and friendly.
