BluWater Bistro Description:
This pleasant, unpretentious bistro is fine for a lazy afternoon of seaplane spotting or a sunset supper, especially if you can claim a table on the deck overlooking Lake Union. Order a blue margarita (muddled limes floating in a Curacao-blue blend of tequila and triple sec finished with a guava splash) to celebrate. On gloomy days, the wood-trimmed interior beckons with a fireplace flanked by an overstuffed sofa and chair, and tables set between cushioned, high-backed booths. What rescues this place from being just another touristy waterfront restaurant is its bistro menu, complemented by a sheet of fresh daily specials. Consider whole, bacon-wrapped rainbow trout stuffed with shrimp mousse, or grilled shrimp and asparagus blanketed with rémoulade seasoned with capers, herbs and sweet pepper. Meat figures prominently on the menu and is nicely handled, from the chunky, baseball-cut sirloin to a petite New York strip. The crisp roasted chicken is a year-round comfort-food favorite.
