In this charming corner restaurant, tiny tables of couples and friends linger in mismatched vintage chairs with eclectic paintings on the deep crimson walls. The subway-tiled floors and fresh flowers make it authentically cozy. The handwritten menu features seasonal dishes keeping company with some favorites, like silky sweet potato gnocchi in a sherry and cream sauce, made only more addictive with bacon. The house-made focaccia is some of the best in the city. Olive oil is a prominent and flavorful component in a number of dishes, either brushed on crostini topped with a creamy spread of baccala (salt cod) or drizzled on lemony ravioli with spring onions and favas. Desserts are made by the bread-maker, so indulge in something like a simple yet enchanting cheesecake or torte. While the service may run at a slower pace or the reception may be like meeting a cat for the first time (curious but a little chilly), it's more like being in your aunt's home, not a restaurant.
