Pacific Catch Description:
In a neighborhood flush with restaurants, Pacific Catch finds its niche with sparkling fresh seafood served up in healthy dishes that span the Pacific Rim from Mexico to Asia. The narrow, cheerfully-decorated space barely has room for the postage stamp-sized kitchen that fronts the dining counter. Still, the hum of the kitchen and the easygoing banter of the cooks set the casual, friendly tone that permeates the restaurant. The six tightly-packed tables near the window may be the only place where the charming bustle of the lunch and dinner rush may switch from intimate to claustrophobic. On sunny days, grab one of the two sidewalk tables. The fish-centered menu (with chicken and tofu offered as substitutions) finds a way to span tastes, textures and cuisines ensuring almost everyone can find something good to eat. Japanese rice bowls are loaded with vegetables and topped with either a saké-teriyaki or a soy-wasabi sauce. Meal-sized salads offer Asian flavors paired with sushi-grade tuna and Mexican-inspired chipotle-glazed mahi mahi with a tomatillo-avocado dressing, amongst others. A list of five fish tacos includes the traditional Baja taco with crispy fish, jalapeño cream and shredded cabbage. Hot sandwiches arrive on grilled fresh-baked bread. Traditionalists will relish the fish and chips served with a pile of sweet potato fries.
