Royal Chinese Barbecue Description:
Olive Boulevard is St. Louis' equivalent of Chinatown, and this is one of the longtime restaurants that helped the street earn destination status. There are menus in English and Chinese, plus a list of multilingual specials propped up near the counter. They offer many choices, but our advice is don't settle for egg rolls and fried rice. Instead, prepare yourself for frogs' legs satay or salt and pepper shrimp. We suggest you come prepared to share---group dining gives you the opportunity to sample more dishes than solitary dining (and Royal Chinese Barbecue does not do dim sum). Roasted meats show to great advantage in various noodle combinations. Nevertheless, your best bet may be to choose from one of the pots: large earthenware vessels carrying stew-type meals with pork, duck or seafood. A world of other creative ideas encourages the adventurous diner, and the staff works diligently to answer questions.
