Lorenzo's Trattoria Description:
Though it's become easier to find modern Italian food in the decade since Lorenzo's Trattoria opened, it's by no means the standard. That's especially true on The Hill, where longtime restaurants continue to turn out Nonna's beloved specialties. Chef-owner Larry Fuse, on the other hand, uses classic ingredients in innovative combinations, like the steamed mussels with a little tomato served over polenta, the mussel juice waltzing with the corn of the polenta. One of the most traditional dishes is osso buco, complete with marrow spoons, served on properly al dente risotto and laced with saffron in Milanese style. Chicken spedini with spinach and pancetta has emerged as a menu favorite. Desserts put personal touches to recognizable recipes, with homemade cheesecake and innovative ice cream flavors. Service is adept and knowledgeable.
