Eau Bistro Description:
The renaissance of the historic Chase Park Plaza, a hotel and upscale residence, has made its five restaurants hum with activity. They include a straightforward travelers' café, a lounge, a steakhouse and the Eau Bistro and Café Eau, whose names can confuse the uninitiated. The Bistro (a breakfast, dinner and brunch destination) feels very urban, with its warm and haute casual vibe under a high ceiling old-timers will recognize. It continues to show a particularly deft hand with fish, even as it has moved from an Asian-inspired menu toward more global small- and large-plates fare. In the ground-floor Café (open for lunch and dinner), high-backed banquettes stud a room whose windows overlook a pretty pool terrace. Its menu is simpler, consisting of appetizers, soups, sandwiches, pizzas and a few entrées in the evening---but even there, intricacies like sudachi juice flavoring the fish 'n' chips show the clever hand of chefs. The food at both is very good indeed, and one wonders what heights it will reach with the hotel's executive chef Brian Hale.
