Vietnamese sandwiches can thrill here, despite what seems, to an American eye: a too-light hand with the filling. Wrong; these are big enough on taste to keep the palate happy, especially the pork meatball version. Under specialties come items like a duck noodle soup and a fine salmon curry. The restaurant itself is small, immaculately tidy and populated by quiet regulars apt to go through a meal solo in the company of an aging paperback book. Because a banh mi travels so well, there's also a brisk carryout business.
