Protzel's Delicatessen Description:
The only argument you'll hear among Protzel's customers is which to try first: the corned beef, pastrami, roast turkey, potato salad or chopped liver. Folks drive from near and far to savor chopped liver at this Jewish deli in Clayton. It's been around since 1950, long enough for a third generation to be running day-to-day operations. There's still no décor to speak of except a few wise-cracking signs, and the scattered tables indoors and out aren't close to adequate on the weekends. So, most folks get their fare to go. Chicken soup, pickled tomatoes, tangy coleslaw, jumbo knackwurst and smoked fish round out the selection. If you're headed straight home, pick up a few goodies like blintzes or chicken soup with matzoh balls for your freezer.
