This stylishly designed wine bar---named for the beneficial fungus that attacks wine grapes---is always packed with fun-loving foodies and wine aficionados. The secret to Noble Rot's success is that the owners don't take themselves too seriously; they simply revel in the glory of wine and food. Wine is the thing here and customers can choose from 30 to 50 wines by the glass. There are usually five rotating wine flights, which change often. The competent servers know their stuff and ably guide patrons through their wine journeys. Most of the seasonal menu's ingredients are gleaned from the local farmers market and channeled into memorable plates, served tapas-style. Signature dishes include an onion tart and an obscenely rich macaroni and cheese sharpened with Dijon mustard and topped with crisp breadcrumbs. The summertime menu is enhanced by the 3,000-square-foot roof garden. And the purest of all water is supplied by an underground aquifer---bring an empty bottle so you can take some to go.
