The name explains it. Family ranch chickens lay eggs that end up at the downtown café, neatly poached on toast or creamy polenta. Their gardens and local growers supply produce. Best of all, their farm's brick ovens, torrid from wood set ablaze the day before, birth artisan breads for Della's shelves and top Bay Area restaurants. Their signature loaf: country French with Meyer-lemon zest, rosemary and Brittany sea salt. Pumpkin seed, meaty kalamata, semolina and other breads are just as topnotch. Join morning regulars at a communal table for toast with homemade jam, frothy Valrhona hot cocoa, house granola, or waffles shaped like barnyard creatures. The place has an old-fashioned feel, from café au lait bowls and red Fiestaware, to genuine customer care.
