Raintree Restaurant Description:
On the outside, this Chagrin Valley institution is an unassuming brick building with large windows. On the inside, you'll find lots of paneled walls covered with bought-by-the-truckload Victoriana, a black-painted ceiling with low-hanging light fixtures that cast shadows rather than light, stained glass windows, and lots of nook-and-cranny seating for gab fests or romantic tête-à-têtes. The surf 'n' turf menu is comfortingly approachable with dishes like the Dublin Lawyer (lobster meat sautéed with scallions, mushrooms, Irish whiskey and cream, served with rice pilaf) and Yankee pot roast. The menu also includes calamari, flatbread pizza, trout and strip steak, and a decent selection of chicken and pasta dishes. All are served with warm, crusty rolls, a choice of rice or potato, and a large house salad that doesn't skimp on leafy greens. Homemade desserts and fresh coffee finish the meal in comforting style.
