Gamekeeper's Taverne Description:
The name says it all at this circa 1976 spot. Gamekeepers, known for its game dishes like braised bison short ribs and South Island elk strip loin medallions, is both sophisticated and rustic in the same bite. Dinner entrées include seafood and pasta, but the main attraction is meat, such as chops, beef, elk and veal prepared simply in the style of classic French cuisine. The wasabi-crusted Chilean sea bass is paired with an orange, sesame and ginger sauce, sticky rice and sautéed spinach, while the center cut filet is served with roasted garlic butter, Cabernet essence and hand-mashed potatoes. Add a glass of wine from the more than adequate list, or try a martini (good with a plate of elk). Patrons can choose between an indoor, fireside or alfresco courtyard dining experience.
