This small eatery, with its stained glass windows, dark woodwork, short counter, and too-cozy tables and booths has been an East side power-breakfast, corporate quick-lunch and family dinner spot for more than 20 years. Service is first-name-basis friendly, the menu (which features several low-fat/low-cholesterol choices) covers all the bases for kids and adults, and the food---simply prepared and served up in heaping portions---is tasty. There's a long sandwich menu for lunch, but many people go straight for the Angus beef burgers. At dinner, best bets include the ten-ounce strip steak and the grilled salmon, which come with salad and crispy cottage fries.
