Cafe Tand Door Description:
Authentic Indian cuisine in the suburbs? You bet. One of our favorites at this south-of-the-city outpost is the restaurant's unusual pishori naan (cashew-and-pistachio-crusted naan, warm from the tandoori oven), along with sweet mango chutney. Meat or vegetable samosas---another must-try---are served with mint yogurt and date-tamarind chutney. Main courses like boti kebab masala (tandoori lamb kebabs simmered in a sauce of onions, bell peppers and spices) and juicy butter chicken in a lightly spiced tomato sauce are rendered all the more appealing by the addition of delicately flavored saffron rice. Expect a vast menu of vegetarian dishes, including baigan bharta, tandoori-roasted eggplant with tomatoes, onions and peas as well as saffron pullao, basmati rice steamed with spices and saffron. A serviceable wine list and full bar are available.
