Maude's House Description:
This former carriage house, owned and run by Omar Boukhriss (who also owns the continental-inspired Voilà around the corner and The Pagoda nearby on the water), is a historic building site in Norfolk. While the specials on the menu change with the seasons, they retain their Moroccan accents. The seafood Benedict is a brunch winner, as are the classics: french toast (order the bland strawberry purée on the side) and omelets. For dinner, we recommend the wild mushroom bruschetta, the potato-encrusted flounder or the Chesapeake Bay fruits de mer. On Monday nights look for the Moroccan menu that features b'stilla, chicken tagine, kebabs and lamb. Service is friendly and attentive in this cozy restaurant, with its cheerful slip-covered chairs, multi-patterned serviettes and fresh flowers on every table. Ongoing wine dinners are a special delight.
