"La Sala" means "living room" in Italian and, fittingly enough, the tastefully and comfortably arranged front room of this Larchmont eatery is about as cozy as you can get. The white tablecloth settings, simple redwood moldings, dark carpeted floor, and a fireplace create a soothing atmosphere in which to enjoy the traditional Italian fare. Try the concentrated and smoky flavors of the dry sliced Swiss beef, served over arugula, or the asparagi con prosciutto, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto di Parma and sprinkled with a zesty raspberry vinaigrette for starters. Follow these appetizers with the Pollo Riviera, a tender and juicy breast of chicken sautéed with shrimp, Holland peppers, fresh herbs and Cognac. The creamy panna cotta, made fresh daily like everything else at La Sala, adds a touch of sweetness to a satisfying meal.
