The Besh Steakhouse Description:
The Besh Steakhouse bar is chic and inviting, and John Besh remains one of the most talented, innovative Louisiana chefs, but casino fare may not be his forté. The steakhouse is located just steps away from the slot machines, and although designed to feel separate from the hustle and bustle of the casino, there is no denying the smoky, quarter-dropping debauchery just around the corner, and the unreasonably high noise level. The menu boasts emblems of conspicuous culinary consumption, such as caviar and some surf 'n' turfers that exceed the $50 mark. But Besh's offerings do not always measure up. The open kitchen turns out some worthy renditions of 40-day dry-aged New York strips, American Kobe beef and mammoth 30-ounce rib-eyes, but you may be hard pressed to find locals occupying any of the seats. Service and food are inconsistent, which may not be a problem for infrequent visitors, but like any other restaurant, the real measure of its staying power should be quality and consistency. The real Besh magic happens just down the block at his Restaurant August.
