Fiorella's Description:
If there was one place French Quarter residents missed the most after Katrina, it was Fiorella's. Re-opened post-Katrina under different ownership, it nonetheless still has some of the best fried chicken in the city. Accompanied by the house red beans and rice, this is one of the do-not-miss treats of this town. As the French Market has evolved into more of a retail draw for visitors, the eatery has changed from a lunchroom for market vendors to a café showcasing a full range of down-to-earth New Orleans specialties to tourists, Quarter denizens and bar hoppers. You'll find respectable renderings of fried shrimp or oyster po' boys, and such daily plate specials as grilled pork chops, meatloaf, and shell pasta with sausage and tomato sauce. Table service is as informal (read lax) as it gets, and the spontaneous clutter and yellowish patina of the dining rooms (two with bars) seem unchanged since Louis Armstrong blew his first notes.
